Welcome to the thrilling match between Arsenal and Brighton at the storied Amex Stadium! Speculation is strong as supporters eagerly await the matchup between these two Premier League heavyweights, as both teams are chasing important points.

Brighton:

While Brighton is still a contender for a spot in Europe the following season, they are currently going through a difficult time in the Premier League after only winning one of their last five games overall (D2 L2). That victory did come in their most recent home game against Nottingham Forest, though. They may be proud of their home form, though, as they have gone undefeated in their previous 12 league games at the Amex (W6 D6), which is the longest run of any team in the competition at the stadium.

Arsenal:

With a victory here today, Arsenal may take the lead in the league as Liverpool's next game isn't until tomorrow. Since losing to Porto in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 match, the Gunners have won nine of their ten Premier League games played since the year's beginning (W9 D1). They have also not lost any of their last six games in all competitions. Though they haven't trailed for a single minute in any of their five away league games since the beginning of 2024, Arsenal is currently enjoying formidable form on the road. They have also kept clean sheets in their last four games.

First Half: Dominant Arsenal Takes Slim Lead

Despite Arsenal's superior attacking play in the first half, a penalty gave them the advantage. Gabriel Jesus was clearly given a penalty in the 33rd minute when Tariq Lamptey stopped him mid-dart inside the box. With confidence, Bukayo Saka took a stride forward and sent the ball into the bottom-left corner, stopping Bart Verbruggen in his tracks. Arsenal had to settle for a 1-0 lead at halftime despite having multiple opportunities.

Second Half: Arsenal Extend Lead with Clinical Finishing

In the second half, Arsenal maintained their superiority by taking advantage of Brighton's defensive errors. Julio Enciso made a critical mistake in the 62nd minute, giving Arsenal control deep in Brighton's half. Martin Odegaard took advantage of the oversight, allowing Jorginho to cross the ball precisely and find Kai Havertz unguarded in the box. Havertz doubled Arsenal's advantage with a flawless shot that went past Verbruggen.

Before Leandro Trossard, a former Arsenal player, made an impact off the bench, the game appeared to be all but over for Brighton. After a quick counterattack in the 86th minute, Havertz played a lovely through ball to Trossard, who calmly chipped the ball over Verbruggen to give Arsenal the victory with a polished finish.

Arsenal Ascend to Summit, Brighton's Run Halted

With their 3-0 victory over Brighton, Arsenal has taken the lead in the Premier League standings—at least for the time being. Mikel Arteta's team embodied their title credentials with their precision finishing and defensive sturdiness. Brighton, meanwhile, drops to 10th place in the standings, ending their 12-game winning streak at the Amex Stadium. Graham Potter's team is still in the running for a European spot despite the loss. As Arsenal celebrates their win, attention turns to their next Champions League matchup against Bayern Munich. Brighton will go to Burnley in a difficult match as they attempt to recover from this loss.
