First Half: Guimaraes Opens the Scoring

Early on in the match, Newcastle made an immediate impression. Bruno Guimaraes was left unmarked at the far post in the tenth minute following a skillfully performed corner routine. The Magpies took the lead 1-0 when Kieran Trippier's precise pass found Guimaraes, who fired a forceful volley past Matz Sels. The play's accuracy left Forest without any responses.

Forest, strong and resolute, answered quickly. Anthony Elanga, a speedster, took advantage of defensive openings in the 26th minute. Elanga's speed was released by a well-timed ball from Morgan Gibbs-White, who skillfully sidestepped defenders Dan Burn and Sven Botman. Elanga's goal tied the game at one with a finish that went past Martin Dubravka's legs.

The goals flowed as the first half played out. In the 43rd minute, Fabian Schar demonstrated his skill with a strong shot from the edge of the box. Trippier sent Schar a long free-kick, which the striker expertly placed into the bottom-left corner to give Newcastle a 2-1 lead again. Nottingham Forest, though, would not be defeated. Callum Hudson-Odoi worked his magic in the 45th and sixth minutes, cutting in from the right and hitting a shot that beat Dubravka at the near post after Lewis Miley gave it a vital deflection. The score was evenly balanced at 2-2 as the sides went into halftime.

Second Half: Guimaraes Strikes Again

More thrills were promised in the second half, and they weren't let down. Bruno Guimaraes saved Newcastle once more in the sixty-sixth minute. Taking advantage of an ineffective pass from Elanga, Guimaraes moved forward with assurance and struck the ball precisely from the edge of the box. With the ball in the bottom-right corner, Newcastle took a 3-2 lead once more.

Newcastle's Grit Secures the Win:

Conversely, Forest's next game is against West Ham, when they will try to regroup. Fans of football were treated to a show at the City Ground that highlighted how unpredictable the game is.
