Molineux saw a thrilling match between Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers that promised twists and turns in an exciting match. A thrilling matchup was anticipated as both sides came into the game looking to move up the Premier League standings.

Wolves:

After going three games without a loss and eliminating their local rivals West Brom from the FA Cup in their most recent match, Wolves, who are currently ranked eleventh, seem to have put a bad first half of the season behind them. After a contentious loss to United at Old Trafford on the first weekend of the season, Gary O'Neil's team will move up to ninth place in the standings if they repay the favour and win all three points today.

Man United:

At Rodney Parade, the Red Devils defeated Newport 4-2 thanks to two goals in the second half. By avoiding a potentially disastrous draw, they advanced to the FA Cup's fifth round. Now that they are chasing their first Premier League win of 2024, the visitors simply need a point to move up above Newcastle and Brighton in the standings. However, an eight-goal swing would be necessary to move West Ham up to sixth place.

First Half: Rashford's Early Brilliance and Hojlund's Impact

Manchester United took an early lead in the fifth minute, setting off a furious contest. Rasmus Hojlund was discovered by Diogo Dalot with accuracy, and he skillfully helped Marcus Rashford. The Englishman's first-time effort was useless for Wolves custodian Jose Sa, going into the top-left corner. In the 22nd minute, Luke Shaw's deflected cross found Hojlund, who finished clinically to increase United's advantage to 2-0. This furthered United's dominance.

Even though Wolves made sporadic raids, United was clearly in charge, with Rashford, Hojlund, and Fernandes planning hazardous raids. Wolves failed to match the Red Devils' intensity, and at the end of the first half they were behind 2-0.

Manchester United was clearly superior at halftime, as seen by their two-goal lead, and Wolves would have to fight hard to make a comeback. The visitors shown their ability to attack as well as their defensive toughness, giving Wolves few opportunities.

Second Half: Penalty Drama and McTominay's Impact

The persistent offensive threat from United opened the second half. Fernandes fired a shot in the 47th minute, but Chris Dawson of Wolves bravely blocked it. Lisandro Martinez's goal-line clearance a few moments later kept Wolves from having a chance.

Sa's magnificent stop in the 55th minute kept Wolves' hopes alive by thwarting Hojlund's close-range attempt. When Wolves were given a penalty in the 68th minute, the game abruptly changed. Neto was tripped in the box as a result of Mario Lemina's build-up play, and Pablo Sarabia scored to cut the lead to 2-1.

United came back quickly, and in the 75th minute, substitute Scott McTominay scored a well-placed header from Fernandes' corner to restore the two-goal lead.

At Molineux, the last few minutes unleashed mayhem. Wolves' hopes were revived at 3-2 in the 85th minute by a close-range goal by Max Kilman. Pedro Neto's single goal in stoppage time completed an incredible comeback, tying the game at three points.

But the game's ultimate twist occurred in the 90th+7 minute when Omari Forson, then 18 years old, went on an enthralling run and slipped past Wolves' defence to give Manchester United a thrilling 4-3 triumph. In a match that exceeded all expectations, United triumphed, and mayhem broke out in the away end.
