Tottenham's Week of Woe

Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham team had just lost to Chelsea in a tumultuous match that featured red cards and goals that were disallowed. Due to the absence of vital players Maddison and Van de Ven, the injured squad suffered further setbacks. On unsteady footing, the guests went into the Wolves' den for a brutal demonstration.

Wolves' Resilience: Bouncing Back from Sheffield United

Wanting to get back on track after losing to Sheffield United recently, Wolves looked for atonement. They were trying to avoid VAR drama at Molineux, and the frustration from a controversial decision in the previous game lingered. With a fast-moving front line, the hosts looked for holes in Tottenham's improvised defence.

First Half: Spurs Take the Lead

As early as the third minute, the game sprang to life, with Spurs' Brennan Johnson displaying incredible skill. Porro executed a precise low cross after Kulusevski and Porro patiently built up to it. Johnson gave Tottenham an early 1-0 lead after side-footing the ball past Sa, showcasing his innate skill.

Wolves dominated, especially in the first half, but Tottenham's defence stood strong. Vicario made resolute stops to deny Semedo's effort and Bellegarde's header. Despite their thin roster, Tottenham led 1-0 at the half's end, surprising everyone.

Tottenham was ahead 1-0 at the break, even without some of their best players. Johnson's first goal proved to be the deciding one, and Wolves found themselves down despite multiple opportunities. Everything was in place for an exciting second half.

Second Half: Missed Opportunities and Late Drama

In the second half, Wolves upped their game and had multiple opportunities to even the score. But a mix of poor finishing and tenacious defence held Tottenham ahead. Wolves were further frustrated by notable misses from Cunha, Hwang, and Gomes.

The pivotal moment came in the ninety-first minute and one second, when Pablo Sarabia, with a deft touch, volleyed the ball past Vicario after Matheus Cunha had made a beautiful pass. When Wolves equalised, the Molineux exploded in cheers.

Wolves pulled off a stunning comeback to defeat Tottenham at the sound of the full-time siren. Spurs' first goal appeared to be decisive, but Wolves' tenacity and late heroics orchestrated an incredible comeback. With 15 points from 12 games going into the international break, O'Neil's team was riding high.
