Burnley and Crystal Palace faced off in a Premier League match at Turf Moor, setting up an exciting matchup between two sides that have different objectives for the coming season.

Burnley's Struggles Continue:

Vincent Kompany's Burnley team had a difficult beginning to their Premier League comeback. The Clarets were in 19th position, having lost all five of their home games and going on a four-game losing streak in all competitions. On the other hand, they wanted to win so they could get out of the relegation zone.

Palace Aiming for the Top Half:

Roy Hodgson's Crystal Palace was in 13th place in the league. Even though they only managed one point from three games in October and suffered back-to-back losses, a win here has the ability to move them up into the top half of the Premier League.

Starting Lineups:

Burnley (4-3-3):

  • Goalkeeper: James Trafford

  • Defenders: Vitinho, Jordan Beyer, Dara O'Shea, Charlie Taylor

  • Midfielders: Johann Gudmundsson, Sander Berge, Josh Brownhill

  • Forwards: Luca Koleosho, Mohamed Zeki Amdouni, Jay Rodriguez

Substitutes: Arijanet Muric, Connor Roberts, Hannes Delcroix, Han-Noah Massengo, Nathan Redmond, Jacob Bruun Larsen, Wilson Odobert, Mike Tresor, Anass Zaroury

Crystal Palace (4-2-3-1):

  • Goalkeeper: Sam Johnstone

  • Defenders: Joel Ward, Joachim Andersen, Marc Guehi, Tyrick Mitchell

  • Midfielders: Cheick Oumar Doucoure, Jefferson Lerma

  • Attacking Midfielders: Jordan Ayew, Will Hughes, Jeffrey Schlupp

  • Forward: Odsonne Edouard

Substitutes: Remi Matthews, Nathaniel Clyne, Rob Holding, Chris Richards, Naouirou Ahamada, Eberechi Eze, Jairo Riedewald, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Matheus Franca

First Half: Schlupp Puts Palace Ahead:

Burnley dominated the first twenty minutes of the game, but Crystal Palace broke the tie in the twenty-second. Jordan Ayew squared the ball for Jeffrey Schlupp to finish it off after a defensive blunder.

Even though Burnley played well, they were behind at the break, and manager Vincent Kompany would have been pressing his team to play with greater efficiency.

Second Half: Palace Secure Victory:

Burnley made a threat near the sixty-minute mark, led by Luca Koleosho once more. They had trouble locating the target, though.

Burnley thought they had equalized in the 64th minute, but Jay Rodriguez's strike was disallowed for offside. It was the right choice.

Burnley made a late push, with Josh Brownhill coming close in the 80th minute, and Sam Johnstone making a great stop, but they were unable to hit the back of the net.

Tyrick Mitchell, the team's second goal, was set up by Eberechi Eze in stoppage time to give Crystal Palace all three points. Palace moved up into the top half of the Premier League standings with the victory.

At Turf Moor, Crystal Palace secured a vital 2-0 victory, condemning Burnley to a sixth straight home loss. When Burnley plays Arsenal away that day, they'll be looking for a reaction, and Palace plays Everton at home. Palace's victory was a significant step toward their goal of finishing in the top half of the Premier League, while Burnley's chances of improving at home are slim.
